Google Search AI Mode Ad Tests Drive $63B in Search Revenue

Google Search AI Mode ad tests were highlighted during Alphabet’s latest earnings report as Google Search generated $63.07 billion in revenue for the quarter. The figure represents a 17 percent increase compared with the same quarter one year earlier. Alphabet reported total quarterly revenue of $113.8 billion, marking its first year exceeding $400 billion in annual revenue.

Google Search AI Mode Ad Tests Expand User Query Behavior

Google executives reported increased engagement tied to AI Mode usage in Search. CEO Sundar Pichai stated that daily AI Mode queries per user have doubled in the United States since launch. Queries entered through AI Mode are now about three times longer than traditional search queries. Many of these sessions include follow-up questions, extending overall interaction time.

Google Search AI Mode Ad Tests Introduce New Advertising Formats

Google confirmed it is testing advertising placements within AI Mode. Chief Business Officer Philipp Schindler said ads are being shown below AI-generated responses during early trials. The company is also testing Direct Offers, which allow advertisers to surface exclusive deals to users showing strong purchase intent. Google plans to enable checkout directly within AI Mode for select merchants.

Monetization Strategy Behind Google Search AI Mode Ad Tests

Schindler stated that longer AI Mode sessions create additional ad inventory. He explained that Gemini, Google’s AI system, improves intent understanding during complex searches. This enables ad placement in scenarios that were previously difficult to monetize. Google described these efforts as early-stage experiments.

Additional Financial Performance Highlights

YouTube advertising revenue reached $11.38 billion, reflecting 9 percent growth year over year. The figure was lower than analyst expectations. Google attributed the comparison to strong political advertising in the prior year and increased YouTube Premium subscriptions. Google Cloud revenue rose 48 percent to $17.66 billion. Alphabet plans capital expenditures between $175 billion and $185 billion in 2026.

Company leaders stated that AI features increase overall search activity rather than replace traditional search usage. Google Search AI Mode ad tests remain part of ongoing product and monetization development.
